Our CHRISTmas Art Day....

We had a good morning with other homeschooling families.
(on Wednesday, i late putting up post.)
We started out our morning with a game of "pilgrims progress" the board game; while we waited for the late comers to arrive....then we jumped into some art work.

Our first project was card making.
FOR MY PRE-PREP, i cut boxes into 10cm by 6cm size card, scour down the center, making sure not to cut all the way thought to other side.

 Materials provided:
and other bits and bobs..
It was nice to see the children creating their own designs and instead of Xmas cards, they come up with other grand ideas; such as greetings cards, thank you cards and love you cards...
all of them, so very special.

After a hour or so of creating their wonderful, heartfelt cards, we got cracking on the next art project....

After a hour or so of much decorating and blissful mess, they got to enjoy eating their creations for morning tea...and before we knew it, our time was drawing to a end and didnt have time to finish off the other projects i had planed... but we did have enough time, for the children to have a quick play outside and for us mums to have a quick catch up and a chat about everyone's CHRISTmas plans and school plans for 2013.

{heehee i have to admit by the end of the morning, i was struggling to keep my eyes open and just couldn't stop yawning... because silly me waited, until the weather had cooled down before i started baking up a storm the night before...well in the end, i was up until 2am, baking off 7-8 trays of cookies, in which the last couple of trays, got a little bit burnt, heehee.}

Time just flew this morning and we didnt get to make a start on our Nativity Scene BUT to some quick thinking and the help of huge snap lock bags, i bundled up the projects and handed them to the children...also bagged up the remaining biscuits, which im sure they were extra pleased to take home also.

Here are the links, that i used for the projects, that we didnt get around doing, the Nativity Scene and a few other little projects n ideas..

OTHER IDEAS THAT I HAD IN MIND, THAT I NEVER GOT AROUND TO PRINTING OUT ..

I was going to make up a Bunting Style Project, but instead of the normal xmas theme with santa and all that what not, i was going to proceed with cutting up flag shapes (could use pretty material or pretty colour paper)  but instead of the norm, we will add scripture and pictures to the flags, to tell the CHRISTmas Story of Jesus ...  Be-careful but take a look around on the internet and find some colouring pictures of baby Jesus, the stable, the wise-men, the star, Marry and Joseph and so on, and then get the kids to colour them in, look up scripture and print them out, to the size of your flags, and add picture and scriptures to flags, hanging one bunting of scripture, one bunting of picture, one bunting of scripture, one bunting of picture and so on and so on...until you have a row of flags and wala, hang on wall, for all to admire.

PARK N PLAY...

Another fortnight-Another brilliant park n play date.
(this time i had the camera)

For the first time in a long time, we were up with the birds lol and then off to the dentist for a 7:30am appointment. (very happy that J2 wont have to undergo a plate fitting until January) We then rushed home to wake up the rest of the crew and while they got ready, i started on our morning tea to share.  We headed to the park with pancakes, helmets, water and bikes in toe and ready for a catch up with other homeschooling family's in the community.

We had a wonderful, hot, but fun morning together... kids off doing what they do best (there is lots of park equipment at this park) and us mums doing what we do best, with introductions and watching over children and chatting about what ever comes to mind..heehee. After morning tea, we headed off for a walk and checked out a bit of the available walk ways. (after a wee while, we were ready to get out of the hot sun and decided to head back to the play area)
and then not long after that, we were ready for home and find relieve in the air-con heehee.

UNTIL NEXT TIME.....

Our first day ....

OUR FIRST TIME TOGETHER WAS A HIT AND A LOVELY BUNCH OF MOMS AND KIDS ALL COME TOGETHER FOR A BIT OF CRAZY BUT LOVELY MORNING OF ART. The kids got to choose their own little characters/people from print outs {ie, skateboarder, a farmer, a kid with overalls, a scooter dude, princess, a baker or a chief, a little girl with skipping rope etc etc etc} and they then had the choice of colouring pencils, or painting, or glueing bits of material, or cut out colour cardboard or with good old fashion crayons and felt tips, to cover their printed out person and give the picture a 3D look, cut that out and glued it onto a lager size paper.... they then added their favourite animals and a back ground to their master pieces like fluffy clouds, air-planes, flowers, birds in the sky, butterfly's, a house, a car or some chose to add all their family members instead and made a family portrait  ...... After a bit of mess, they dove into morning tea and then off to play at their own leisure.  {i promise the next one to be more messier lol} The moms got a coffee and a chat in and the kids got to play and watch a movie. {the movie wasn't qite what we had planned but none the less the kids had fun! and next time, we will hide the remotes lol.}

WAS A GOOD MORNING.

This is extra painting that some of the kids wanted to do, instead of the above.
pretty good for a 4 year old.
Our art trolley filled with some of the things we used on the day...
Bits of material, that they used for clothing their cut-out people or used it for oceans or clouds...some children cut out the pictures on the material and added them to their back grounds.
Bits of colour paper, tissue, wool, that some of the kids used in their pictures.
Our art trolley, loaded with colouring pencils, felts, crayons, scissors, glue, colour paper, tissue, cushion insert/fluff, pretty material, etc etc.

Example of of a cut-out person that they added to their creations and the little family members that some added to make portrait's.

I WOULD HAVE OF HAD MUCH MORE PICS, BUT BECAUSE THIS IS A PUBLIC BLOG AND MOST OF MY PICS HAD CHILDREN WHO ARE NOT MY OWN, I WILL NOT POST THEM WITH OUT PERMISSION .... but next time, ill just take pics of their art work (and them with their art work) but so i can post what the children are doing, they were so pretty and nice... next time ill make sure no children are in the pics.

A LOVELY MUM, JUST SENT ME SOME PICS OF HER KIDDIES CREATIONS:
THANK YOU PHILIP AND OLIVER.

A BIG THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO HAS HELPED ME KICK START THIS GROUP.

THANK YOU, TO ALL THE LOVELY LADIES WHO DONATED THEIR TIME AND THEIR EQUIPMENT/RESOURCES, TO OUR ART GROUP.
We would not have, been able to, even start this art group, if it wasn't for the kindness that each of you have shown towards us.

Due to my health issues and heart problems i have not been able to get this kicked off the ground, UNTIL this week!!

We did our first art event for home-schooling locals {all of whom, can be found here: http://connectinghomeschoolers.ning.com/} ...and thanks to the small but great interest it has gathered, of 20 plus kids,  i will continue to do fortnightly events as long as i can.. one fortnight will be art, the next fortnight will be a park n play with lunch together or some other kind of excursion, and then the next fortnight back to Art and then the next fortnight a excursion... and so on and so on..Hope that made some kind of sense heehee.
(pics of our first day, will be in the next post...straight after this.)

these have been all sorted and stored, this is just where hubby try to put them heehee.
found this nifty trolley and a second hand shop in Beenleigh. (love it) it is now our art trolley, that can be moved around to each child, so they are not all running around. heehee

the white containers behind the trolley are filled with everyone's kind donations...after i finished the sorting, i thought it best to get it all packed, safely away...so my kids and other kids cant get into all the gear.
