We had a good morning with other homeschooling families.
(on Wednesday, i late putting up post.)
We started out our morning with a game of "pilgrims progress" the board game; while we waited for the late comers to arrive....then we jumped into some art work.
Our first project was card making.
FOR MY PRE-PREP, i cut boxes into 10cm by 6cm size card, scour down the center, making sure not to cut all the way thought to other side. |
Materials provided:
and other bits and bobs..
It was nice to see the children creating their own designs and instead of Xmas cards, they come up with other grand ideas; such as greetings cards, thank you cards and love you cards...
all of them, so very special.
all of them, so very special.
After a hour or so of creating their wonderful, heartfelt cards, we got cracking on the next art project....
After a hour or so of much decorating and blissful mess, they got to enjoy eating their creations for morning tea...and before we knew it, our time was drawing to a end and didnt have time to finish off the other projects i had planed... but we did have enough time, for the children to have a quick play outside and for us mums to have a quick catch up and a chat about everyone's CHRISTmas plans and school plans for 2013.
{heehee i have to admit by the end of the morning, i was struggling to keep my eyes open and just couldn't stop yawning... because silly me waited, until the weather had cooled down before i started baking up a storm the night before...well in the end, i was up until 2am, baking off 7-8 trays of cookies, in which the last couple of trays, got a little bit burnt, heehee.}
Time just flew this morning and we didnt get to make a start on our Nativity Scene BUT to some quick thinking and the help of huge snap lock bags, i bundled up the projects and handed them to the children...also bagged up the remaining biscuits, which im sure they were extra pleased to take home also.
Here are the links, that i used for the projects, that we didnt get around doing, the Nativity Scene and a few other little projects n ideas..

OTHER IDEAS THAT I HAD IN MIND, THAT I NEVER GOT AROUND TO PRINTING OUT ..
I was going to make up a Bunting Style Project, but instead of the normal xmas theme with santa and all that what not, i was going to proceed with cutting up flag shapes (could use pretty material or pretty colour paper) but instead of the norm, we will add scripture and pictures to the flags, to tell the CHRISTmas Story of Jesus ... Be-careful but take a look around on the internet and find some colouring pictures of baby Jesus, the stable, the wise-men, the star, Marry and Joseph and so on, and then get the kids to colour them in, look up scripture and print them out, to the size of your flags, and add picture and scriptures to flags, hanging one bunting of scripture, one bunting of picture, one bunting of scripture, one bunting of picture and so on and so on...until you have a row of flags and wala, hang on wall, for all to admire.
